I'm in the event management industry and am considering getting cosmetic dentisty done, porcelain veneers placed on. Have you gotten the procedure done before. How much does it cost. Any advice on the procedure. Good or Bad

I'm considering to have veneers place on my teeth, any advice?
I've heard this procedure is rather expensive in the U.S. (anywhere from $800 to $1600 each piece. You might want to research doing it in Mexico. I've got this done by a wonderful dentist in Tijuana.

I'm in the event management industry and am considering getting porcelain veneers placed on my teeth very soon. Has anyone had the procedure done before or know someone who has? Do you know the cost? Any advice on the procedure? Recommend any dentist? Good or Bad advice?

I'm considering having veneers placed on my teeth, any advice?
i have a few friends who have done it, and it looks absolutely AMAZING.

i heard it was pretty expensive though!

basically, they cut your teeth a little shorter and place the fake porcelain teeth over it... you have to change them every10 years i think.

they all say it takes you a while to get used to them, and most people don't like it at first. well, it's not that they don't like it, they are just not used to it. now they all love it, and i think it is so worth it! it makes your teeth look flawless. :)

How much do composite veneers cost?

How much do they cost as opposed to porcelain veneers? Any dentists up in here who can give me an approximate figure?

How much do composite veneers cost?
The office I work in charges between $800.00 and $900.00 each. We are in Southern California. The price will be different in different areas because the cost of doing business changes from place to place.
Reply:GENERALLY ABOUT HALF THE COST OF PORCELAIN. SINCE THIS VARIES FROM DENTIST TO DENTIST AN ACCURATE FIGURE CANNOT BE QUOTED. CALL AROUND WHERE YOU LIVE AND ASK.

What were the advantages of porcelain dishes?

607-908 [ i think thats the time period ]

i need to know what the advantages of porcelain dishes were

problems that it solved

how people used porcelain dishes, besides eating on them

and how much in China it costed

pleeeasee help me!! i cant find anything, its all about porcelain veneers and im not doing that please help me. thanks!! : ]

What were the advantages of porcelain dishes?
Yikes a homework project, no offense. I won't check the history but can offer some suggestions.

Porcelain is just Clay, but a finer form, that needs Firing at higher temps than average, and is the base of Fine "China".

No real advantages other than easier access perhaps, and a lower lead content. Beyond that, after glazing firing, a much finer finish.

I have no clue how much it "COSTED" in that time period, but now it's more pricey for sculpting and pottery than other species. I have to believe that in CHINA it was what was available, BY LUCK as it turned out.

Porcelain veneers might relate to tiles? beyond pottery or foodware. Certainly even the ancients knew about Forges, firing, even enamled substances for creating inlays and veneer finishes on furniture, etc.

Porcelain breaks as easily as any other substance, essentially GLASS.

Reply:Porcelain is extremely strong and also keeps food very hot for longer periods of time. It is delicate looking, but strong in character.

Question about Veneers?

I had braces for three years. Now that I have had the braces off for a little while, I am starting to notice in pictures and when I smile that I have a little bit of a gummy smile. Especially when I am laughing. Because of that, I try not to smile real big. I just feel like my teeth are small.

I have heard of gum surgery to correct it, but I don't think it is that drastic enough for a surgery. I was wondering if anyone knew if Porcelain Veneers could correct a mildly gummy smile like mine? Please look at my photos. Thanks.

Question about Veneers?
I am a dentist and I looked at your pictures. Your situation cannot be corrected by veneers. Veneers correct teeth not the gums. It does appear that you have slightly too much gum tissue at the apex of your teeth. There are two ways to correct your appearance: The very best way would be to do what is called crown lengthening to raise the gum tissue by a few millimeters. This is very painless if done with a laser or electrosurge. This is usually done by a periodontist or a cosmetic dentist, make sure you get recommendations there are a lot of bad ones like any profession. The second way to fix your smile is by doing a lip drop procedure. This is a simple tissue removal under your upper lip. this lowers your lip when you smile so it no longer shows your excess gum tissue above your teeth. My preference is the crown lengthening because It will make your teeth look better by removing excess tissue, it will be less painful and usually almost pain free. Your teeth are fine, no veneers needed.
Reply:It appears you just have a small upper lip is all..........If it really bothers you try some of that lipstick that plumps up your lips but just use it on the top one..........Personally I wouldn't recommend going as far as to alter your gums.........and I believe even with veneers you'd still show the same amount of gum line (which isn't anything to be ashamed of) anyway.....you would just have bigger teeth is all.

Just be glad your teeth are straight........I hope this helps.

Oh yeah, once you get veneers you can't just take them off because your real teeth get filed in a very freaky way.......no matter if your teeth are straight or not.........and you have to pay thousands to replace down the road. Good luck.
Reply:I have veneers, but I didn't get them because I didn't like my gums, I gotthem as they were one of my few options after suffering from fluorisis which left my teeth incredibly week.

They look amazing, they look natural aswell. But they're pricey.

I've had 6, that was about £4000.

I think that You don't need veneers and there isn't even that much gum. As the person before my said, maybe get some plumping gloss or lipstick, you have a great set of teeth.
Reply:its ok 2 worry but yr teeth look fine 2 me it might be couse yr not ussed 2 it yet

How much does a porcelain crown cost?

i live in a small town in north carolina and the porcelain veneers cost 500 each so can any one tell what they paid for their porcelain crowns. i want crowns and i want all 20 of my teeth done in porcelain crowns not including the wisdom teeth and i figue that if i pay 1000 thats enough for each tooth cause i mean come on im going to have 20 done cause it would make me have the best possible smile. so can people tell me how much their crowns costed and if i should not pay more then 1000 for each tooth since it will cost alot anyway and if u have that many teeth done do dentists give u a discount. some one help me.

How much does a porcelain crown cost?
My total cost was $1100 for each (Cdn).. and no discount for doing multiple crowns... although I asked!!

I'd recommend veneers over crowns though... especially if you're doing ALL your teeth and it's only for cosmetic reasons! Crowns are not the healthiest or most cost-effective way give you a better smile.

If you just want whiter teeth, have you tried whitening strips or bleaching?
Reply:Why on earth would you want crowns on 20 teeth???

If you don't *need* the crowns, it's ridiculous to do so because you're taking away perfectly healthy tooth structure. Veneers, yes, but crowns? No. Bad idea. A lot of people experience sensitivity for years because the tooth is ground down to a little "nub". Good luck in finding a dentist who will do them for no good reason...unless he's just out to make a buck.
Reply:i am not sure these days and state to state but i can tell you that in 2001 i had insurance and i had 6 bridge crowns done in the front top and my part was over 5000 i am scared to price the other 5 i want done today its sad but they did offer a credit card plan there i just paid my part i didn't want the interest with it all
Reply:The price for veneers and crowns is almost same. You would be better off going to same dentist for your crowns as well since the price $500 he charged for veneers is very reasonable or rather lower than the national average if I may say so. No comments on why you need 20 crowns!

Veneers in malaysia??

has anyone out there been there for dental work?? i need answers both positive and negative from anyone who has been there for dental work.

I'm going there soon for porcelain veneers, its way cheaper than back at home even after I include the cost of flights

Veneers in malaysia??
Hi Sammy

Why Malaysia?

If the cost of treatment is a major concern, then i would suggest you explore the option of travelling to Mexico for your dentalwork.

Whilst it isnt financially feasable for everyone to fly there, the fact you can save over 90% on prices in the US and UK and makes it very attractive to many.

Of course you need to do your due dilligence and make sure the dentist you decide on has both the expertise and most importantly recommendations you can check.

Dont just take a receommendation from an answer in a forum , your teeth are too important for that.

A few months ago. After extensive research i went to a delightful and highly recommended lady dentist in Mexico, and saved myself over $33,000 on what i'd been quoted here.

This is way way cheaper than Malaysia, and with a guarantee of World Class dentistry when you get there.

As i say Sammy, this isnt for everyone, but if you are thinking of spending a considerable sum of money, it is an option you should perhaps at least consider..:-)

More details on where and why i went to Mexico below

Hope this helps

Veneers - recommend cosmetic dentists in MN?

Can you recommend a few cosmetic dentists in Minnesota, near St. Paul, where to get consultation for porcelain veneers?

thanks!

Veneers - recommend cosmetic dentists in MN?
Look for "general dentists" on the eHealthPlus network.

Search by zip code. Many of them specialize in cosmetic

dentistry. There should be many in/near St. Paul, MN.

Composite veneers?

I've been thinking about getting porcelain veneers, but I'm afraid they might be too expensive for me. I wouldn't mind getting composite veneers if they were cheaper...even if they are of lesser quality. I don't know much about them. Any information about procedure and cost would be helpful.

Composite veneers?
They last for a very long time and come with a lifetime warranty so you never have to worry. You are looking between $800 and $1,000 a tooth and they can do wonders for your smile. They are used to whiten teeth, fix gaps, cracked teeth, etc. Overall i have heard great things about this product and i plan to get them in the future. Hope this helps.
Reply:ELLE,

COMPOSITS STAIN OVER TIME BUT, ARE MUCH EASIER TO REPAIR IF THEY SHOULD BREAK.

THE COST IS RELATIVELY EQUAL AS THE WAY TO PREPARE FOR COMPOSITE VS. PORCELAIN VENEERS IS THE SAME.

THE DENTIST CHARGES MORE FOR PORCELAIN BECAUSE HIS LAB BILLS T MAKE THEM ARE HIGHER.

IN MY OPINION CONSIDER BRACES.

WHY?

NOTHING TO POTENTIALLY BREAK OR FRACTURE.

FABULOUS RESULTS WHEN FINISHED.

NO SHOTS OR ANESTHETIC AND NO DRILLING.

Question about replacing single porcelain veneer?

Okay, so Saturday I am going to the dentist to ***** about my veneers... One of them looks like it is starting to pull away from the gum and my real tooth is slightly exposed (this is the second tooth that has happened to) and my two front teeth, one of them is slightly longer than the other. It looks like one is pushed up higher then the other

Here is the picture: http://aycu14.webshots.com/image/43333/2...

Is there anyway they can fix it? Will they be able to replace them and push it up higher to match the other one? and if so, does anyone know how it would be done. Cause I am really pissed off about the problems I've been having and I've only had my veneers for 3 months..

Question about replacing single porcelain veneer?
This is the part of veneers they do not discuss before hand. Gentle brushing, soft or extra soft toothbrush. They can replace the veneer and make the new one fit close to the gum, but this will not even out the other tooth. They would need to do some crown lengthening/ laser part of the other gum down to match.
Reply:hey stop worrying they will be able to fix them or replace the ones misaligned.by the way i think you have beautiful teeth, may i ask why you got them in the first place?i know there very expensive,i have been looking into them for myself.my hubby has them and hasnt had any problems so far.good luck hon and calm down there fixable for sure.

Bonding vs. Veneers?

I have two front teeth that did not seem to grow in the correct way. They somewhat look like baby teeth, which have a triangular shape. When I say triangle shape, they would kind of remind you of vampire teeth, yet WAY smaller. They aren't long at all.

Now, for these two small teeth, do I need to get them bonded, or am I able to get Porcelain Veneers? Im planning to get Porcelain Veneers, but I don't if the two teeth stop me from getting them.

Bonding vs. Veneers?
Get the Veneers.. their better. I've found our patients seem to enjoy them better and love the look of them more. Porcelain is a harder substance (material) also. Yes, it can still break of course, but it beats the Composite Bonding (tooth colored filling material) by a landslide. The Composite Bonding will stain, much faster than the Porcelain. Plus, the Bonding method, wears faster. Their easily broken.

Go with the Veneers, for the simple fact of the life span is longer and you'll be happier. The cost is steeper than the Bonding, but well worth it. Trust me... i see it EVERYDAY...
Reply:I think the best thing is to talk to your dentist. i know with veneers you have to have the tooth ground down to accept the veneer itself. (i had one done today) if the teeth are tiny you might not be able to get one. the best bet, again, talk to the professional. I hope you get a great smile! :)
Reply:This is a very hard question to answer without knowing exactly what your teeth look like, how well you care for your teeth, etc. Knowing how comfortable your dentist is with each procedure makes a difference also.

My daughter bugged me and bugged me to do veneers on her teeth. She had some dark spots from medication as a baby (no choice in the matter...) and I agreed that she should have some treatment, but I did not want to place porcelain veneers on her at a young age. Finally, at age 16, I was willing to use bonding for her front six teeth. (Dentists - I only did 6-11, because we were not changing the shade.) My plan was to replace them with porcelain once she was in her 20's. She is now 33 years old and the bonding still looks great. (Dentists - I used Z-100 in 1989. I DID prepare a finish line.)

On the other hand, I have a dental assistant who needed "something" done, but she declined porcelain veneers and asked me to do the same thing that she saw on my daughter's teeth. (She said that she knew porcelain would not last forever and she wanted to delay her "permanent" treatment.) I did the same thing for her and found that she wore them out by excessive brushing, no matter how much I warned her, and we ended up replacing them - ALL of them - every 3 to 4 years. She just wore them down so much that you could see the edges of her natural teeth showing through. After about 10-12 years of playing with these bonded teeth, she FINALLY let me replace them with Empress porcelain crowns this year.

I have many patients (25 or 30) who have had porcelain veneers for 10-15 years with no problems. Frankly, I have not had problems with veneers failing, but I am very selective about who gets to have veneers as opposed to having a full porcelain crown.

So, it is very difficult to answer your question without seeing the conditions in your mouth. Bonding can be an excellent choice and it might last for a long, long time, as it has lasted 17 years for my daughter. Then again, bonding might not hold up more than 3 or 4 years, as it has for my assistant. When veneers are done properly and placed well, they might last for 20 years or more. When they are placed poorly or used where they really are not appropriate, they might not even last a year.

Discuss the pros and cons with your dentist.
Reply:i had a partial with one tooth since 1987 i finally am getting a cavaliter bridge. i have never been so happy in all my life!!! they have so many new things to fix teeth. go get a consulation from a dentist they will tell you what they can and cant do for you certain problem the only problem i see is can you afford the work my one tooth and bonding of 3 teeth with insurance is costing over 4000.00 dollars yes 4 thousand dollars but if you can afford it you will be sooooo happy
Reply:sounds like you have 'peg laterals'. than the question is - do you have enough space (created usially by braces) for a full size teeth? if so, it probably was a plan to build your teeth up. listen to your dentist recomendations. if you slill not sure, seek second opinion.
Reply:Boy, I was just asking myself this question today.......see, I have four gorgeous (brand new) veneers and now I want expand the work to the surrounded other four. This will NOT be cheap, but thankfully I was approved for a line of credit to do this. I figured at first that since the front four were veneered, it wouldn't matter as much if the next four would be bonded.....and would save me almost $2,500.......but when it came right down to it......I lOVE LOVE LOVE the quality and look and feel of my veneers that I dont' want to mess with a good thing. My doc put some composit on two of the teeth I plan on veneering next so I could see what it would be like to have those two "built up" alot. They look great in dimmer lights, but in the sunlight or my living room even, they look fugly compared to my BEAUTIFUL center four veneers. I just couldn't do that.......put those (relatively speaking) crappy composites next to the veneers. THUS, I am sucking it up and investing in the best smile I can afford.......I am so excited now that I've accepted my choice because I know my smile will be stunning when it's done. Regarding the size of ur two center teeth, I could be wrong but when they "prepared" my 4 centers, he "sanded" and drilled them down until my naturals were pretty much like thick little tooth picks......so maybe ur present state is actually a good thing as he/she won't have to drill/sand/prepare as much???? Dunno.......the DEPTH will have to be reduced too so that the veneer doesn't seem bulky when delievered tho......well, ask a professional before u make ur final decision i think. best of luck!

HELP!! I chipped the porcelain veneer on my front tooth!!!!?

Although it's a very small chip, I almost had a heart attack when it happened. Everyone said it's too small to even notice. I had an appointment with a cosmetic dentist who proposed that they a) patch the chip with composite resin (bonding) or b) replace the entire veneer. A new veneer isn't in my budget and I had bonding 1st which I hated ( stained and thick). My original dentist lead me to believe that veneers don't chip or break. Was I mislead? Any repair suggestions?

Thanks

HELP!! I chipped the porcelain veneer on my front tooth!!!!?
Chipping and breaking of veneers is common if you aren't careful. Since the chip is small, as you said, you probably just need some bonding. Replacing the veneer will be incredibly expensive.
Reply:Simply depends on the size of the chip..

Normally with SMALL chips I can bond and fill the area..but the bigger the missing part the weaker the repair!

Go to dentist and see what can be done

Paul
Reply:I would think that if your Veneer is less then about 5 years that it should be replaced at no charge. Veneers do chipped sometimes and do break. They are made of Porcelain, which is glass. If it is very small, bonding, if completed by a good dentist should be fine and should also not be detectable.

How do you whiten a porcelain veneer on teeth?

I have a porcelain veneer on one of my teeth, from years ago when I was a kid. I am considering getting my teeth whitened but my dentist doesn' t think the procedure would work on the veneer. It would be obvious if it didn't, since it is one of my two front-teeth, and I'd rather know before I tried. Anybody know how this one can be whitened?

How do you whiten a porcelain veneer on teeth?
Get the veneer replaced with a whiter one.
Reply:try baking soda
Reply:They can't be whitened.

I was consididering getting veneers done on my teeth, because of thin enamel and both my mom, an orthodontist, her dentist friends, and my normal dentist agree that you can not whiten porcelain veneers. It is something that is done in the creation of the porcelain and because of how they are made, can not be done once they have been created.

Think really hard about how much you want your teeth to be whiter. If your teeth are horribly yellow, then consider it, but most people do not actually notice as much as you think.

Besides, the pearly white teeth look very odd on some people with their natural colouring.

Getting new veneers is one option, but everytime you get new ones they have to grind your actual tooth down more. It is painful, expensive, and hard on the teeth.
Reply:you can't unless you paint over it, and I don't recommend trying that one.
Reply:Veneer cannot be whitened, the fundamental color cannot be altered this way. Get the whitening done first and replace the veneers to match. This way, you can continue to have whitening done knowing that your incisors will match the rest of your teeth.
Reply:Sorry, but they can't be whitened. I suggest that you bleach your teeth and then get new veneers to match your new shade.
Reply:It can not be whiten. You would need a new veneer.

Can dentist remove porcelain veneer easily?

My porcelain veneer are like 3/4 crown and the previous dentist didn't do a good job on the preparation as the surface is not flat. I want to have it replace for some other reason. Is it a hell of a job to remove porcelain veneer and replace it with new one? Will I lost my teeth or more teeth structure when they remove it?

Can dentist remove porcelain veneer easily?
Either would be easy to remove and should require very little re-prep. I am a little confused though...do you have a 3/4 crown or a veneer? The prep has nothing to do with the finished surface, so your question is not clear. What surface is not flat? The finished porcelain???? I don't understand.

Porcelain Veneer/teeth Price in UK?

I want to get all my Teeth Porcelain Veneer ! So they look like Simon Cowes. Anyone know the best place in the uk to get this done ? Also how much ! Iv got about 1.500 to spend !

Thanks Jason

Porcelain Veneer/teeth Price in UK?
it is soooo expensive to get them done in the uk u r looking at between £300 and £500 pounds per tooth for veneers that are good. the bst thing to do is to go abroad to have them done i will give you a link to look at i hope this helps.
Reply:I know someone who had their teeth done (braces and porcelain veneers) for free, as they went to the School of dentristy at the local University. However dentists can charge what they like,so pick a number. If your teeth are not too bad I wouldnt worry, they will need replacing in about 10 years anyway.
Reply:Not cheap, people here are going to other countries to get them done. Go to your search engine and compare prices
Reply:You can't just walk in to dental school + get them done for free, unfortunately! You would need to be referred by your dentist and there would need to be a valid reason for it- not just for aesthetics!

I have a porcelain veneer. It think the bonding agent is starting to chip off.?

It's only five years old. I might floss it too much, but when I floss it snags on the back of the veneer. Anyway, I moved away from the dentist that placed it... Can a dentist grind the jagged (sharp) part to smooth the back without damaging the porcelain veneer and its bond? The jagged edge is on the back part of the veneer. I'm afraid it will lose its stability. And is this a bad sign for a porcelain veneer? Thanks.

I have a porcelain veneer. It think the bonding agent is starting to chip off.?
M H,

IT'S IMPORTANT TO SMOOTH OUT ANY IRREGULAR SURFACES, OTHERWISE THROUGH CONSTANTLY HAVING THE FLOSS CATCH ON THIS THE VENEER BOND CAN BECOME LOOSE.

Are all veneers made from cerinate porcelain?

No theres different names , and many ways of making veneers ... cerinate is a brand name, like lumineers and stuff

Are all veneers made from cerinate porcelain?
No. That's a proprietery brand name for one company's product.

Do porcelain crowns and veneers hurt, and are they worth the cost?

no they don't hurt,,, the worse part would be the shot.. they are worth the money ,, your smile is usually the first thing people notice,, yes they are a bit expensive , but you can have a couple done at a time if you cant afford to have them all done at once.but if your having the front teeth done with veneers you will want to have them all done at the same time so they can match the shade exactly the same,, good luck and smile proud!!

Do porcelain crowns and veneers hurt, and are they worth the cost?
They are worth the money. And with a good dentist they will look just like a real tooth and last a few decades.

As far as pain, if they removed the root, you won't feel any pain after the root canel since the nerve is removed. But if the dentist decides that the nerve can be salvaged, the crown may hurt awhile when chewing on it because they will expose the nerve and it will need to get used to the crown. This however is the better option because your tooth will still be alive and well even with a crown on the top.

Good thing also about crowns is the tooth will no longer decay.
Reply:1) Porcelain crown is a treatment to repair your tooth . If the pulp had been treated , there is no pain during crowns prepared and try-in. Because the crown preparation is involved with dentin, and the dentin has nerve ending. If the pulp is vital , you must accept anesthesia procedure. The procedure has a little discomfort, and this procedure hurt? It depends on your dentist....If the dentist is best, No Pain you can feel...

2)Veneer procedure is no pain....It don't involved with dentin, just on enamel---- there is no nerve ending there.

These Procedure worth? Depend on your expectation....Artificial tooth is worst than natural one.....
Reply:no they don't hurt at all as it been said the shot is the worst part! And they definitely worth the money and time! I had 3 crowns and one veneer on my front teeth and it's the best thing i ever have! I got lots of compliments on my teeth! Get a really good dentist to do it and it will last for years and years! Good luck :-)
Reply:Porcelain crowns and Veneers do not hurt. But some sensitivity can be expected for a couple of days. Yes, they are worth the cost and cause. Go ahead and good luck.

Does anyone of you has friends or family members wear veneers or porcelain crown? What do you think about it?

Our daughter wears two veneers in the front and if given the choice, she would never have done it. It has created a lot of extra work and fear that she will break, lose or discolor them. A dentist had the great idea that it would be the best way to fill the gap of the two front teeth rather than pulling them in by other means and he ground down the GOOD ones to make the HUGE ones adhere, we had to go to another dentist who at least got them matched to her smaller teeth so she didn't look like a bunny. If its a have to that is one thing, but if you have a choice, chose having a hassle free love yourself life.

Does anyone of you has friends or family members wear veneers or porcelain crown? What do you think about it?
I have a porcelain and a gold crown. The gold crown shocks me because of the nearby fillings when I eat with metal flatware. I don't have that problem with the porcelain.
Reply:Veneers look nice, I wish I could afford them, but most ppl I have seen who have them, get the too big, and look like horse teeth.

Halle Berry has them, and to me she is the most beautiful in the world.

but look at Hillary Duff, since she got them she looks like a horse mouth, they are too big for her mouth!
Reply:I've got one veneer covering one of my front teeth that needed to be repaired. It looks beautiful and natural and I haven't had any problems with it. I wouldn't do a mouthful though, but it was the best way to fix a small dental problem.

Does anybody know if you can get cosmetic dentistry on the NHS? i.e, porcelain veneers?

Reply:if u are an immigrant then yes, most likely, along with hundreds of pounds worth of benefits a week and a council house!!
Reply:Yes you can - my girlfriend is currently having Root Canal surgery and after that whitening, a re-crown, and a veneer all on the NHS. However there is a catch, it has to be done at Kings College Hospital but not by a student, by a teacher (ie a fully qualified dentist), whilst a couple of students watch. We couldn't believe it would all be done for free-but apparantly so. I also have a friend who has had two veneers. My girlfriends local dentist was kinda reluctant to sort this out, but if you ask there is a chance.

OKay, I previoiusly had a root canal done, and now I have to have porcelain veneers, they recently............

put temporaries on, because they didn't have time to do the real thing. Someone please explain in dummie terms how they are going to do this, and will it be painful????

OKay, I previoiusly had a root canal done, and now I have to have porcelain veneers, they recently............
Very simple. You have temporary veneers on because they have to have the permanent veneers made at a lab. In a couple of weeks they will slip the temporaries off and place the permanent ones on with a permanent cement. Oh, and not a painful procedure. If you feel anything at any time during this procedure then the dentist can numb you up at any time to make this a more comfortable procedure.
Reply:no this is not painful--they slip it in just like a false tooth
Reply:Its not painful at all. I had one done recently and I felt fine. You will feel a little uncomfortable for a few days but thats normal. Also try not to chew on the side your getting it done on for a few days until the tooth feels normal again.

Can u still have braces even if you have teeth that are veenered? (porcelain veneers)?

Yes you can, Veneers are bonded to your teeth wich makes them alot stronger than cementing them.

They are preety much your own teeth and the main part that is moving is the root of the tooth to make the visible part look straight.

Can u still have braces even if you have teeth that are veenered? (porcelain veneers)?
direct this question to your orthodontist.

I have losted several teeth fall out since having children WHATS WRONG?affordable porcelain veneers in usa?

Kids do take alot of work..

I have losted several teeth fall out since having children WHATS WRONG?affordable porcelain veneers in usa?
Sweetie, veneers have to be glued onto something, so if your teeth are completely gone you need dental implants, not veneers, which are more expensive (a basic implant is typically $1,250. to $3,000, while veneers are typically between $900 - $2,500)

The best way to get more affordable implants or veneers is to find a dental school in your area, and let the students perform the procedure. Here's a link to look for a school in your area:

http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/programs/sear...

You can also find a Dental Assisting program at a school in your area (try technology or community colleges) and see if they have a dentist who works with the program. The Assisting program that I'm in has a dentist come in once a week and he does procedures on people for much less money.

Good luck!
Reply:Many women say having children has had a negative effect on their oral health. I think it is important to remember a few things.

1)Babies require a lot of calcium. Their need calcium and phosphorus for all their bones. If Mom doesn't have a large calcium store, say from drinking a lot of milk from when they were children and throughout their lifetime, then the baby will rob whatever minerals they can get from the Mom's Stores.

2)Teeth are constantly going through a demineralization/remineralization cycle. That is to say, you eat dinner. Sugars from your diet are used by bacteria on your teeth. The bacteria give off acids that demineralize or remove calcium and phosphorus from your teeth. When you brush (and floss) you get rid off the bacteria and calcium, phosphorus and fluoride ions are put back onto your teeth. If you don't have these mineral ions circulating in your body because your baby is robbing you of them, then your teeth don't remineralize. They just demineralize and demineralize and demineralize. Soon you have a cavity. The cavity gets worse and the tooth needs a filling, root canal or extraction.

Moral of the story. All you Mom's out there, make sure you are getting a lot of minerals, and not just when you are pregnant, but before that time too.

Tooth veneers, porcelain etc? weird question?

What does it look like behind the tooth/veneer?

Are they just like squarish shaped plates that go on the front?

Can the pieces of teeth that are left rot, or move, making your veneers change position?

Do they have to sand off a lot of your tooth or are there any that just fit over?

Also what about these things called "caps" Where do you get those. You know like what Robin Williams snaps on in Mrs Doubtfire, then they fall off into the glass lol. What are they and do they actually exist as an option?

-Sorry for all the questions. Please answer as many as possible.

I love picking best answers! but usually don't get any good ones. Someone must know? ;-)

Tooth veneers, porcelain etc? weird question?
Toothfairy gave a very good answer and you should vote it as best.

Just to add: the amount of tooth removed to place veneers depends on a few factors - how much re-shaping needs to be done, if there is any decay or existing fillings in the teeth, if there are open contacts or crowding.

Most dentists will be happy to discuss options for cosmetic restorations. Ask to see pictures of their actual cases (not just cases in a book they bought).

Keep in mind that "Cosmetic Dentistry" is not an actual specialty recognized by the ADA. Anybody can call themselves a cosmetic dentist, so ask around.
Reply:A veneer is basically a false front on your tooth. It reaches from your gumline to just behind the bottom edge of your toothand wraps around both sides a little. Some of the original tooth surface usually has to be removed but not very much. You can get a cavity in any natural tooth and the veneer does not stop that since most of the backside of the natural tooth is still exposed.

A "cap" is a common name for a crown, which is similar to a veneer, but more tooth is removed and it covers the whole tooth surface rather than just the front.

Hope that helps!
Reply:A veneer is kinda like a fake fingernail but the difference is that the tooth has to be prepped down to make space for the veneer so they are not too thick. The tooth structure that is left is basically the back of your tooth and if you take care of your teeth and see a dentist regularly you shouldn't have any problems.

The kind of caps you are talking about are just a prosthesis that fit over your teeth, they make those especially for actors and such...in a sense kinda like billy bob teeth that you can put in and wear.

Hope that helps..... :)
Reply:The porcelain veneers are very thin layer of porcelain, that seat right on top of your own teeth. They are for cosmetic reasons.By getting them you can change your teeth color, you can close small gaps and you can straiten your teeth to some level. They are permanent and they get glued on to your teeth. In order to make them fit and to have some room for them they have to sand off some of your own.Not much. After that an impression is being taken from your moth and they send it to the dental lab with bunch of instructions. The lab makes them according to your mouth and impressions,so they'll fit perfect. The last step is gluing them on.The caps are complete covers to protect a broken dawn teeth or root canaled teeth. The veneers are just for the face of your teeth. The back stays the same. The caps have metal lining inside them, for strong support.Again dental lab makes them. What Robin Williams is using are dentures. In his case the fake once. You don't want to get those. Not in these days.If you want to know about dentures, ask again,I'll do my best to explain.

I have veneers on my top and bottom teeth, they ground down alot of the tooth, pretty scary but now I have beautiful teeth and no one can tell that they are veneers. They just cover the front of your teeth you still have your own tooth on the back.

How old do you have to be to get bonding done? or porcelain veneers.?

i want to get my gap fixed but i am only 14 years old. do i qualify for this type of procedure?

How old do you have to be to get bonding done? or porcelain veneers.?
Because you are still a minor, a visit to your pediatric dentist who will be able to answer your question best is in order. They can make the necessary referrals for you. It is difficult to tell without an examination of your mouth if bonding or veneers would be best right now. You may also be able to have braces to shift the teeth closer together.

Can anyone give me a name of a place to purchase inexpensive porcelain veneers ?

Can anyone give me a name of a place to purchase inexpensive porcelain veneers ?
Lumineers are not traditional veneers. We do not do them in our office, cause my boss thinks they are worthless, but that is his opinion. Anyways, are you sure that veneers are something that you want to get done at a cheap cost? That is kinda like getting a bargain boob job. Not a good idea in my opinion. I have seen patients who went the cheap route, and they were kicking themselves later on.
Reply:Go to www.lumineers.com they have a cosmetic dentist search.
Reply:there is no such thing as cheap cosmetic dentistry. seriously, you get what you pay for. i have seen too many hackjob veneers and believe me, they are an absolute mess to clean up and get looking like real teeth again. and you have to pay for them twice. please, do yourself a favor and pay the full amount once.

How much would it cost to do your whole mouth, with porcelain veneers.?

well. not your whole mouth. but a majority. a rough estimate would be nice.

Don't include insurance.

How much would it cost to do your whole mouth, with porcelain veneers.?
Upwards of £15,000.
Reply:a lot.
Reply:last price I saw quoted was approx 400-500 per tooth.......and Insurance usually wont pay for it since they see it as "cosmetic"
Reply:I had 23 done and my dentist charged me only 9,800.00. I have a "perfect" hollywood smile now though. It was the best 10K I have ever invested. As far as insurance he said most policies do NOT cover veneers anyway as they are considered cosmetic. I do modeling and it has increased my jobs a great deal so again the money was well spent. Good luck and happy smiling!!
Reply:I was told you only get the top done. It isn't the best to get both top and bottom. I had 8 of my top teeth done and bleached out my bottom teeth. The grand total was around $7000 for 8 teeth. My aunt just got 12 top teeth done and it was $12,000 where she lives.
Reply:Depends upon the dentist and the city they are located in. Your State or County Dental Society may have some study data to offer you - you can find their phone number either online or in your local telephone directory. BUT, the HIGH END would be approximately $20,000 -- that information is fresh from this week's newspaper as a Los Angeles dentist has offered to do a full mouth of veneers for American Idol contestant LaKisha Jones. Kiki has nice enough teeth, but the front two have a space between them. The dentist would want to do a full mouth, to ensure color compatability and the best, long-lasting Professional appearance this performer would need. This dentist has offered to do the entire job free for her, but she cann't take advantage of any "non-Idol" contracts until after November 2007, when her Idol contract expires. So watch for a new SMILE on the Great Lady of Song sometime around the Christmas holidays !!
Reply:As a dentist, I would advise you not to even think about having your whole moth treated with veneers. First of all, porcelain veneers do NOT last forever. They chip and sometimes stain around the edges and even can fall off, so once you have this done, you are committed. It is also best to only do the upper front 6-10 teeth. This would run you around $1,000/tooth. In some cases, depending on the condition of your teeth, they may have to be shaved down more than others. Depending on your case, an alternative is composite bonding which is much less expensive....I charge around $250/tooth depending on the situation [these can also chip, stain, etc.].

Can you ever tell if someone has had cosmetic dentistry done (porcelain veneers, crowns, etc.)?

yes, most of the time i can (my dad is a dentist.) trouble is, each dentist/dental lab is different in their quality of work. easiest thing would be to ask someone who has good work who their dentist is but that would mean you could tell they had work done! i have had friends pay a lot of money for very "fake" teeth and it is too expensive to get re-done. i would research it A LOT before you plop down all that money and ask, "do i really need this done?" or could you get away with teeth bleaching (if your teeth are fairly straight.) good luck!

If money wasn't an issue, would you get porcelain veneers if you could?

If not now, would you in the future?

I'm just curious.

If money wasn't an issue, would you get porcelain veneers if you could?
why if you have perfect teeth?
Reply:Yes I would but I don't like my teeth.
Reply:If my teeth were really bad looking and they would improve my appearance and money wasn't an issue I would do it. It would improve the self esteem of someone with horrible looking teeth.

I don't need them, however.
Reply:yes, definitely. I'm in the process of having the front done now. money is an issue for me, but it's either that or dentures, and the later is not an option. it's costing me $11,000.00 for just my front teeth. I may have to take out a mortgage on my house to finish.

Is there an age limit to getting porcelain veneers?

hi

porcelain veneers can be fitted at any age but depending on the state of the teeth.

the tooth to be veneered should be live and not root treated,

the dentist preparation is vital and the tooth must be prepared in a special manner,in my experience not many dentists are knowledgeable in this subject.

veneers are made in different materials

essentially porcelain or composite.

remember that veneers are fragile and not as strong as crowns

Is there an age limit to getting porcelain veneers?
If you mean should minors get veneers, they should wait until they're 18. Too many kids are looking at veneers as a 'quick fix' for whiter teeth, when they should be doing better home care.

'Don't fix what isn't broken'..

:)

Where is the best place to get Porcelain Veneers?

Go to a dentist that uses CEREC technology which is good for fillings and bridges also. The patient gets consistent quality and puts them in charge because they can then worry about price and service. When Americans can go to Cuba for dental work using this technology you will find that dentists will stop screwing their office staff (literally) and patients (financially) in Florida.

Where is the best place to get Porcelain Veneers?
the dentist
Reply:The place of your stay is the best place to get porcelain veneers. It may not be worth traveling abroad if you are looking at 2-4 veneers. If you require something like full mouth veneers and crowns, and there is attractive offer then you may consider traveling abroad. Internet search like affordable best deal dental india tour etc may help. Good luck
Reply:As most general dentists can do veneers - I would suggest going to a Prosthodontist. That is a specialist that specializes in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. They may cost a little more - but it will be worth your money. I've seen ALOT of horror cases with veneers in a general dentist's office. And the patients leave very unhappy.

Questions about Porcelain and Composite veneers?

I am going to the dentist on Wednesday to get my teeth Zoom whitened, but I'm also considering getting porcelain or composite veneers. I have some questions if anyone could help me answer them.

1. Can you get them on your bottom teeth?

2. Can they make crooked teeth look straight

3. Do they stain

4. Is it worth it to get composite veneers?

5. Do they look real

I know, a lot of questions... but I am really considering this.

Thank you

Questions about Porcelain and Composite veneers?
1. yes you can get veneers on your bottom teeth.

2. yes they can help make crooked teeth look straighter.

3. no they do not stain

4. if you're going to invest in veneers, I would have the porcelain veneers done. composite resin materials on the facial side are not as durable because they are only bonded whereas, porcelain is cemented. porcelain is also going to be a lot stronger material

You can also ask your dentist to do a "mock up" for you so that you can see the end result beforehand and make any aesthetic changes before the procedure is actually done. There may be a charge for this, but it is definitely worth it.

I hope this information helps.

You can get more information at this website I found...

Does bleaching your teeth work on porcelain veneers?

Veneers are largely translucent and if yours are very thin then it's possible that bleaching will "lighten" the overall appearance of the teeth. That's because they take on the underlying colour somewhat and if the natural tooth lightens then you might get some beneficial lightening even if you have had veneers placed.

If your veneers are thick you will not get any effect and if the cement used is opaque you will see very little benefit from bleaching)if any).

BTW , your dentist will have to get you to put bleach on the inside surface and incisal edge of your teeth for any of the above effects which is not where it is normally placed - same with surgery bleaching.

Does bleaching your teeth work on porcelain veneers?
Nope, you can bleach those puppies as much as you want but the color they are is the color their going to be.

Now on the bright side, you can brighten up the rest of your teeth with some crest white stips or other over the counter bleaching stuff. It works pretty slowly so you can adjust the color of your bottom teeth and those to the sides of teh veneers to your liking.
Reply:"Do not swallow bleach"if u do,please seek emergency help! :) :)
Reply:No it does not.
Reply:No, it does not. If you want to make it whiter than you have to have a new one made. I know...it's a bummer.
Reply:No you can't bleach porcelain veneers, they are made a certain color by a lab the only way to change the color is to replace the veneer
Reply:unfortunatly no......if you feel your veneers have become discoloured, go to you dentists get them out, put a masking agent or opacifier under them and get them recemented. thats the only way or get new ones made.

Veneers are an American privilege.

I am going to get some porcelain veneers. But first, I get impressions & temporaries. What are they like?

I am originally scheduled to get impressions and temp teeth on Dec. 3 and then permanent teeth on Dec. 19. Because money is tight, I am thinking of keeping the temp teeth untill January. I am afraid that if I schedule the permanent teeth in January, the temp teeth might be ugly. Then I would be stuck with them until January. Have you ever had temporary teeth? What were they like?

I am going to get some porcelain veneers. But first, I get impressions %26amp; temporaries. What are they like?
You need to call your doc's office and explain your financial situation so this can be worked out ahead of time. Temporary veneers, while satisfactory looking, are not held on the teeth very well and tend to dislodge. You do not want to have them on over an extended time period like you want.
Reply:The atheistic look of the temporaries depend on the artistic work your Dentist or you Dental Asst. can provide. A Cosmetic Dentist that specializes in this field will do a very good job. Now temporaries are not cemented on perm. there placed on the prepped teeth with temp. cement so this may be a problem with keeping them on as long as your are wanting to. I myself had two upper central and 6 lower anterior veneers and the Dentist I worked for (now retired) did a magnificent job. It was the best thing I ever did. Trust in your Dentist I'm sure he will show you some of his work to reassure you.
Reply:About impressons,

they'll put this plastic gunk stuff on a tray and stick them on your teeth to take molds.

It'll feel kinda weird and it hardens into rubber to take the shape of your teeth.

Or they will just put the gunk in your mouth without the trays.

Most likely, they will make a mess on your face just like they did to me but its all good!

Good luck!

On the average, how much do porcelain veneers cost and how long do they last?

usually between $700-$800 per tooth depending on the dentist. they will last a long time if your care full with them if they are the front teeth be sure not to bite into hard or chewy things and make sure the bite is right so you wont break them

On the average, how much do porcelain veneers cost and how long do they last?
my dentist quoted about $1500 per tooth (in Chicago). They shoudl last forever though.
Reply:They absolutely do NOT last forever!

My dentist told me they would last for 5 years when I got them at age 15. My first one has fallen out, and I'm now 25.

My brother had one, and it fell out in a year.

It's different for everyone. Oh, and you should avoid biting down with the teeth that have the veneers. I lost mine on a chicken wing.

What is the survival rate of porcelain veneers?

I'm a dentist.

I get that question a lot. The truth is, it depends. It depends on the quality of the porcelain, the quality of the work that went into making it, the quality of the resin used to cement it in place, the design of the prepared tooth (which dictates the design of the veneer), the eating habits of the patient, the parafunctional habits of the patient (grinding, etc.), the oral hygiene habits of the patient, and probably other things I cannot think of at this moment.

Typically though, you can expect a veneer to last a good 10 to 15 years. Don't be surprised if it lasts longer though.

What is the survival rate of porcelain veneers?
Depends entirely on how well you take care of them. I have a friend who has had veneers now for over twenty years. But I know another who had bruxism, fractured the veneers in months.
Reply:Should be for long time.....I had one of my 9 replaced after 12 years due to an undermining at the gum line possibly by a popcorn kernel piece and needed to redo...
Reply:Against Mike Tyson? let's say the second round?
Reply:They last about 20 years so if our not 60 start saving now they will have to be replaced before you kick the bucket
Reply:Survival rate?

They last between 20 + years. They are as strong if not stronger than your regular teeth.

If yo uare thinking about getting them, don't go for the cheapy ones like Lumineers they are like Lee Press On Nails and the survival rate of those is way less... also they look bad.

Go with a brand like MACVeneers, they look very natural and really awesome! www.macveneers.com
Reply:I had two, one lasted 26 years, a head clash with my grand daughter ended that one.

I still have the other, now 28 years.
Reply:WOW!!! I didn't know they were even alive never mind have a survival rate! GEEZ!!
Reply:normally 5-10 years!! but if it brakes off within a year u sholudnt have to pay to have a nother one made!
Reply:They should definately last 10 to 15 years if you look after them, if not then they'll come off sooner. However they can last alot longer if you're careful with them
Reply:Personally i dont agree with veneers. If the preparation work is good and the lab is a good one and you look after it well enough, they should last for some good few years. Just like anything done in dentistry it is likely to fail or tire and require a new one

What's the difference between porcelain veneers and crowns?

Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 20 years.Maybe I can be a little clearer. Veneers are typically ONLY for the front teeth and act like a shield on the front of the tooth to make the tooth look great. The are less expensive and most soap opera stars and hollywood people get them to have a great smile. To do a crown, the entire exposed tooth has to be cut down and shaped for a full covering. This is more costly and is totally over kill it most of your natural tooth is in tact. I never cut down healthy teeth unless is is for a bridge and the patient will not do implants. Speak about this to your dentist and h/she and show you detailed pictures to give you a better visual. Good luck. ~M

What's the difference between porcelain veneers and crowns?
veneers are glue onto the front of the tooth and crowns replace the upper portion of the entire tooth....

What is the price of porcelain veneers in new york? and is financing an option of payment? Where did u go?

Typical fees for veneers in New York City is around $1000 per tooth, give or take a couple hundred depending on the dental office. Most dental offices do offer financing through CareCredit and such.

There are two dental schools in New York City, and if you let a dental student do the veneers for you it should be significantly cheaper ($600-$700 per tooth). The two schools are NYU College of Dentistry in downtown Manhattan, and Columbia University's dental school up near the George Washington Bridge.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

What is the price of porcelain veneers in new york? and is financing an option of payment? Where did u go?
I know that this company Care Credit has really good payment plans. On some you dont even pay interest. They only give credit for medical issues (including pets). You can call and be approved during the phone call.

I got my veneers in San Fran about 10 years ago (only 2 teeth) and due to insurance I only paid 50 bucks but I think my insurance covered 500.

I'm thinking about getting porcelain veneers...?

I only want my top front teeth (total of 6 teeth).. About how much will it cost do you think? What else do I need to know? Any info would be appreciated...

I'm thinking about getting porcelain veneers...?
I think they are thousands of dollars. I have a friend who had four done because of a chipped tooth... she also had four root canals. Go to someone who has done a TON of veneers. Get them only if your teeth are really, really bad

They can also come off if you get hit in the mouth. Sounds unlikely, but my same friend got hit in the mouth by the head of her toddler and one of them fell off.
Reply:They stain quickly.

I chose crowns.
Reply:It goes up to 2,500 a tooth, so it'll cost around 15,000 somewhere. Porcelain veneers do not stain and they last up to around 20 years. Composite veneers are glued to the tooth and only last around 7 years but we're not referring to those. Porcelain veneers are indirectly placed atop a tooth. 15,000 is my estimate but only your dentist could tell you for sure.

*Need Help* When I get porcelain veneers, will the dentist let me make monthly payments?

I'm going for my consultation tomorrow, the total will be only 1900 dollars, soo how much do u think the down payment will be? and will he let me make payments after i get the procedure done? Thanks :)

*Need Help* When I get porcelain veneers, will the dentist let me make monthly payments?
As has been posted, it's entirely up to the dentist. Even dentists who specifically post signage that they don't offer credit, will often do so at their discretion. As for the down payment, I would say he'll ask for 50% at the time of your first appointment. That's pretty much standard and covers his out of pocket costs, but I've heard of dentists accepting as little as 10%.

If it happens that your dentist doesn't offer a payment plan, I'm sure he can direct you to a finance company to whom he refers his patients. But beware-- very often these companies charge extraordinary rates of interest.

If you have a credit card with a reasonable interest rate, you're far better off charging your dental work to your own card.

Best of Luck to you! I'm sure you'll love your new veneers!!
Reply:not sure, It depends on the dentist. You will just have to ask the people in the front office to find out.
Reply:thats something only the dentist can answer
Reply:Try asking your dentist, you idiot.

What is the lifespan of porcelain veneers?

I've been looking into Lumineers and I think it would be a good investment. How long do they last?

What is the lifespan of porcelain veneers?
5-10 years expected lifespan, can last longer. Also depends on any crowded teeth issues-can become plaque traps, periodontal (gum) problems-not a good idea if patient already has had problems with gums or bone loss, mouth breather issues- mouth breathing can cause the tissues to dry out easier which leads to plaque sitting on the teeth more often, can be more cavity prone, hygiene issues- if you don't keep them clean and floss regularly you can develop more problems. Not always a good investment.

On average, how much would porcelain veneers (for teeth) would cost?

I'm in the process of getting porecelain veneer facings done. They were $1000 for each tooth. I am having 8 done. That price includes everything! All x-rays, all moldings, all work up time, even a temporary 2 week set of the veneers to see how they sat in my mouth, the final teeth and everything. Its fantastic. Although you have to be cautious of caramel type things, apples and corn won't hurt them. Depends who does your teeth and how good they are. My suggestion is that you go to a cosmetic dentist. If your going to pay that much, get it done right! lol

On average, how much would porcelain veneers (for teeth) would cost?
Mine were $900. Just make sure your teeth adhere well to the bonding. Mine have come off four times in two years, so back to the dentist I go. With veneers, forget about biting into an apple or corn on the cob. Those puppies will pop right off. I do like the way they look... no doubt about that, and they don't stain. But, you have to be careful before biting into certain foods.
Reply:Depends on whos doing it (the doctors rates) and how many you are getting. I was going to have 6 done and it was going to cost me a total of 8000$. I decided not to do it. Its instant though, not like braces that take a while, you walk in and walk out and boom, you are done. I hear people have problems with them popping off though.
Reply:Id say around 750-1000 per tooth depending on where you go.

What is the difference between porcelain veneers and lumineers? How much would 8 of either cost?

Lumineers are a brand name for a type of veneer made under licence by dental laboratories. However, most if not all labs will make some type of porcelain veneer. Discuss with your dentist to determine what he has most success with and ask to see before and after photos so that you can judge the quality of the work. The lab is the key here in fact the technician making the veneers is really the key man to find. Consider asking if custom colouring is available so that the shading is matched to your surrounding teeth. Consider whitening your teeth before you have any work done so that the new colour of your veneers with match the whiter teeth.

What is the difference between porcelain veneers and lumineers? How much would 8 of either cost?
Lumineer is just a brand name and a type of veneers. Since you have eight to do and you are concerned about the cost, look into DentalService4Less membership, it could save you 25%-60% off veneers and lumineers. Make sure you have a good quality general dentist near you though; search by zip code or by full address.

Does anyone know how much porcelain veneers cost?
They are pretty expensive. You may be looking at 400-1000 per tooth! If you are looking to close gaps, change color etc I would defiantly look into them. If you have one tooth you think is 'ugly' why don't you have it 'bonded'? (That's tooth color filling material) Bonding is way cheaper, lasts just about as long as veneers do. The only con about bonding is they are not as beautiful as a veneer. The con about either procedure, HIGH MAINTENANCE!! Think about never biting into anything hard or very chewy again. Not to mention you are drilling away healthy vital tooth surface. Ask for a consultation from your dentist, you can get a better glimpse of what not only best for your mouth, but also your wallet.
Reply:It varies from office to office %26amp; depends where you live. I'd guess that any where from $500-$900 per tooth is a good guess. Call around to different offices %26amp; get some prices. Make sure that the dentist shows some photos of other work he has done. Good luck

With the popularity of porcelain veneers will they still use dental records to identify unknown bodies?

of course, the dentist would keep a record of the work he did with the veneers.

Does anyone know about porcelain veneers? What are the disadvantages or problems?

i have a porcelain veneer.. i got it a few years ago and i havent had any problems with it.. the only disadvantage is the color might not match your teeth color exactly and they can chip if you hit them on something... just make sure that you go with a good denist

Good luck

Does anyone know about porcelain veneers? What are the disadvantages or problems?
They over time tend to discolor. They also chip or break and have to be repaired .
Reply:first off, the only reason for a veneer to really discolor would be if you do things that would normally discolor your real teeth, like smoking, drinking coffee and tea. veneers are a good solution to correct discolored teeth, spaces and slight misalignments, if you already have a dentist that you like request to see some before and after photos of actual cases that your doctor has done, if you are not happy with what you see go to this website to find a dentist in your area www.aacd.com
Reply:The porcelain veneers are the fantastic way of enhancement in esthetics of your smile. The disadvantages being that it requires to remove some tooth enamel causing some sensitivity for a day or two, and are expensive. The advantages are that they do not stain at all the way our original teeth get affected. They easily last 15-20 years with regular oral hygiene.

How do i bleach porcelain veneers?

You are not able to bleach Veneers, you would have to get them replaced if you would prefer a different shade.

How do i bleach porcelain veneers?
Not possible. Only natural teeth can be bleached or whitened.

How much do Dental Porcelain veneers cost. And are they bright white.?

The cost of a porcelain veneer is per tooth and depending on where you live in the U.S., will range between approximately $600 - $1500... also, insurance will not pay anything on this procedure as it is considered cosmetic. As for the shade, you and your dentist will decide on the shade together using a shade guide... you choose a bright white shade although I would not suggest it because it is not natural at all and it will look like a white picket fence in your mouth.

How much do Dental Porcelain veneers cost. And are they bright white.?
I think Da vinci veneers (the ones you see on tv) are like a thousand a tooth. They look great and white but that is some serious money.
Reply:There are several brands of porcelain veneers including Empress and Lava. Most dentists charge $1000 and up per tooth.

They give great results and can be as white as you want them, from "movie-star" white to a more natural color. Also, you can change the shape of the teeth.

If you're going to do your front teeth, do at least 6, best to do 8 for a more even smile-line match.

How much does Porcelain veneers cost ?

Mine cost £500 a tooth.

How much does Porcelain veneers cost ?
UK about £250-£350 each.
Reply:It depends on the dental office and your location.

They can range from $500 USD to around $1000 USD. The higher-end office you go to, the more expensive they are going to be. Generally, insurance doesn't cover veneers because they are seen as cosmetic. So unless the dentist can make a really strong case with the insurance claim, the cost will be completely out of pocket for you.

Your best bet to figure out what is offered in your area is to pick a dental office or two, give them a call and ask them how much their porcelain veneers are.

I had my work done at an affordable price without sacrificing service and quality. I have had them for 2 years and they have saved me alot of money on all my dental work.

I signed up online and they were my benefits were active in 2 hours.

Hope this helps to keep money in the bank for you.

Has anyone had porcelain veneers... do they look and feel the way you expected?

I got porcelain veneers this Fall on my front 4 teeth. They look great, even better than I'd hoped. (I had a significant gap in the front.) I am really pleased with how they look. (I did the whitening procedure first, so they look really white and very attractive.) They sent me several models of teeth before I gave the final approval. Don't be afraid to be picky about how you want them to look. Once you have them done, they are with you a long time!

With that said, I have had some problems with my bite and the feel of the veneers in the back, where they wrap around the teeth. The dentist has smoothed the edges on a number of occasions and that helped a lot. She has also had to make bite adjustments 3 times and it's still not perfect...but getting better with each adjustment. (Small adjustments are better than big ones, so they don't overdo it.)

It felt very different for some time because you are used to your teeth and this changes them. Additionally, I had to get used to the feel of my tongue on my teeth and how it affected my ability to articulate. (That was a surprise to me, but shouldn't have been, if I'd thought about it. I just had never thought about the way teeth contribute to speech.) So I had to practice pronouncing certain words. In time it got better.

Finally, I had a few moments, in the first month or so, of feeling that I wished I could just take the coverings off, almost in a claustrophobic kind of way. But you can't because it's an irreversible procedure. Knowing that can produce anxiety. So if you think you might have that issue, you should think carefully about whether or not you will be able to adjust over time.

I have adjusted fairly well (and it's getting better all the time) and I couldn't be more pleased with how they look.

I am glad that I made the decision to do it, despite the things that I've had to work through.

Good luck!

Has anyone had porcelain veneers... do they look and feel the way you expected?
Hi Mary

I got four veneers fitted on my top teeth about two years ago. It was to help with shape and colour. There is a bit of preparation to undergo as they need to take off the top surface of the teeth that are going to get the veneers then impressions are taken. This is not at all painful just unusual. It took me about two weeks to get the veneers back from the lab and that period is the worst as your teeth feel a bit rough and look a bit discoloured.

Once the veneers arrived and were fitted they were great - looked good and felt good. I have absolutely no regrets about getting it done.

I hope this helps!

How much do Porcelain veneers cost on average these days. Per tooth. Can you get them done the same day now?

Anyone know of any Dentists in Sydney that have a good reputation in this area?

How much do Porcelain veneers cost on average these days. Per tooth. Can you get them done the same day now?
Here in the United States in our area (south-east) it will cost you about twelve hundred per tooth. You have to have at least two appointments one for the impressions and the prep so the impressions can be taken and sent to the lab, the next appointment is for seating the veneers once they are back from the lab.

How much do Porcelain veneers usually run?

Between $500 and $1200 depending upon the difficulty, type of substructure, and type of dentist preforming the procedure. You really do get what you pay for, so don't just go with the cheapest.

I have 8 vaneers and work in a dental office. They cost around $900 per tooth and not covered by insurance.

Has anyone had porcelain veneers? does it hurt? what is the process?

when they "drill"your teeth do they numb it, if so how? with shots? does this drilling hurt? how much did they cost?

Has anyone had porcelain veneers? does it hurt? what is the process?
My husband is a dental lab technician. Dentists do not have to file the teeth very much at all - if they know how to apply the veneers - they are a thin layer of porcelain over the front of the teeth for cosmetic purposes. Also my husband has been making veneers for years and no patient has every had one break -- they are as durable as crowns when properly made and properly applied. When you have crowns (full coverage) is when they file the teeth down to stubs and that is usually instead of huge fillings. Cost varies from dentist to dentist--and like crowns they aren't cheap no matter Thanks.
Reply:Procelain veneers are very expensive. That's all I know about them. Mostly only Movie Stars and rich people can afford to have it done. Good Luck ! :)
Reply:I have them and I would never suggest for anybody to get them unless, it's absolutely necessary. They don't disclose a lot of things (that they should) until afterwards, like you won't be able to bite into an apple, carrot, candybar, etc. for fear of breaking them. What they don't tell you is that they file down your natural teeth to mere stubbs and therefore you'll always have to worry not only about the care, but the expense too! In the range of $800.00 per tooth.

Within the first four or five months I had three teeth break and believe me, it wasn't a lot of fun and now I regret ever getting veneers.

Your very smart asking beforehand, I which I'd had enough sense to of asked before.

Does anyone have Porcelain Veneers, and can you tell me about them?

Would they melt in a sauna or easily break? About what could you expect the price to be for about 4 of them? Please help, I had braces in the past but I want to close the small gap in my two front teeth and I like the curved look.

Does anyone have Porcelain Veneers, and can you tell me about them?
The price will vary from dentist to dentist for all four 2 - 4 grand. Make sure you see before and after pics of patients. Make sure to ask the dentist if he still uses the same dental lab as in the pics to ensure you know what you're getting.

Veneers are an excellent way to close gaps and should last a very long time with proper care (don't go around trying to open bottles with your teeth). They will NOT melt. In the creation process they are baked at temps up to 1600 degrees.

Be very specific about how you want them to look (rounded, square, etc.). There is even a smile catalog that you and the dentist can go over to make sure you're on the same page.

One last piece of advice:

Don't go SUPER white. Choose a shade that is natural and that will blend with your canines and lower teeth. Even if you bleach, too white veneers will look fake and jump out like a bathtub.

Good Luck!
Reply:I heard they last up to 20 years. The price might be a bit costly maybe $2-3k for 4 teeth.

Id get it done if my teeth get worse. I have 1 cross bite which bites but its ok cause when I smile it isnt visible since it is on the bottom row :).

Can anyone get porcelain veneers?

My sister wants to get them but her teeth are pretty messed up.. one of her molars fell off a while back.. she never went to get it fixed.. but yeah her teeth r in bad shape.. their crocked.. can she get them?

Can anyone get porcelain veneers?
Yes and no. Veneers can be seated on almost anyone. They are a fairly minorly invasive in terms of damage to the natural tooth and can be put on almosts any tooth. But whether or not they are the right treatment for your sister's needs is a whole other question.

Long answer, it depends on what her goals are. If is to address crooked teeth that will depend on the position and current health of the teeth.

Minor imperfections of alignment may be corrected with veneers but there are a myriad of limitations on doing so. A dentist will have to determine whether or not her goals can be achieved.

Veneers are somewhat like acrylic fingernails. A small portion of the tooth surface is removed and roughed up, then the veneer is made to fit over the teeth. Like fingernails, the underlying tooth structure dictates what shape and position the veneer will take.

More important is her overall oral health. If the teeth have decay, that will have to be repaired before the veneers are seated. Again, like acrylic nails, veneers are custom made each time they are placed. If one comes off because the natural tooth broke down from decay, the same veneer cannot be reused, a new one ($$) will have to be made.

Equally important is the general health of the gum tissues and bone structure beneath the gums. A patient with periodontal issues isn't a good candidate for veneer treatment because the gum disease will cause the gums to recede and the veneer will become obvious (veneers are usually seated just under the gum line so the margin between the natural tooth and the porcelain is not visible).

So to invest the money in veneers without having good oral health is just wasting cash. Further, veneers for cosmetic reasons are generally not covered by any insurance plans.
Reply:You can get them, however it does depend on what kind of dental coverage she has. She might have to pay a hefty sum of money as most dental insurances don't cover too much of that sort of stuff.
Reply:yes ,if the teeth are in bad shape they need root canal treatment and then some pivots.

Do you think porcelain veneers on a person is a turn-off?

no, as long as they're not obnoxious like Matt Dillon on "There's something about Mary".

When you get porcelain veneers, are there any food restrictions?

Example, would you not be able to bite into certain foods anymore (like apples, carrots, etc.)?

When you get porcelain veneers, are there any food restrictions?
I have 12 crowns, pretty much the same as veneers.

I do avoid biting hard things with my front teeth

(they are crowns) I broke my original front teeth on a dried apricot, not even hard. And broke one of the front crowns on something like an apple and had to have it replaced. So I cut hard things to bite size.
Reply:no fork biting

you won't be able to bite your nails as well... veneers are not as sharp as your natural teeth

other that that just treat them as teeth
Reply:Porcelain veneers are just shells on your teeth. You do have to modify your eating habits so you don't fracture the veneer.
Reply:Only for the ones that require extra biting/chewing force; rest is just a cake walk. Go get your new smile and enjoy.
Reply:First, porcelain is a sort of glass. It can break. Next, a veneer is not a complete covering of an existing tooth. It is more like an outer top shell that is cemented on- the best analogy I can think of at the moment is: a veneer is similar to an artificial finger nail. The strength is not there as it would be with a full coverage crown. Yes, you will need to exercise caution when eating certain foods. If you can manage the discipline to do this, you shouldn't have any worries. If it does pop off, you may have it re-cemented provided there is no damage to it or your natural tooth. A lot of folks have veneers and are very satisfied with them. Good luck!

How much do porcelain veneers cost in the UK, approximately?

Are they priced by tooth?

How much do porcelain veneers cost in the UK, approximately?
This will vary from dentist to dentist and is dependent largely on the fee charged by the dental laboratory who make the veneers. A higher price will often go hand in hand with better materials and a high degree of skill from the technician, which all adds up to the best cosmetic result.

The price is normally per tooth, but the greater the number of veneers you have, the lower the cost per tooth is likely to be - bulk buying if you like!

A typical amount would be anywhere from £150-£250 per tooth, but possibly higher in some areas.

If there is a true clinical need for a veneer (that is, it is not simply to improve the appearance of the tooth - such as a malformation in the enamel covering the teeth) a veneer may be available on the NHS. If you have to pay NHS charges, this will currently cost you £194, including any other necessary treatment. But be warned, remuneration for dentists for this procedure is not high which affects how much we ca afford to pay the lab who make the veneer. In short, even if you can convince a dentist to do it on the NHS, you won't get the best quality material, or even necessarily a great colour match.
Reply:Just under £300 per tooth.
Reply:it depends because the lab fees in some maybe expensive but usually under £350, as your dentist for a quote
Reply:It depends where you go you will find it very hard to get veneers on the NHS my dentist it costs around £395 per tooth
