Can porcelain veneers correct an open bite?

I am a 27 year old female with an open bite and small gap in between the front two. I work in a very public position and dont feel comfortable at my age with orthodontia which is the most common recommendation or orthognatic surgery. I just want to get porcealin veneers or even the newer "Lumineers". But aside from cosmetic value can veneers be used as a treatment plan for open bites?

Can porcelain veneers correct an open bite?
It depends how severe is your open bite.

If you are patient, the best treatment to correct your open bite is orthodontics. http://www.studiodentaire.com/en/treatme...

If you do go for veneers, put in mind that veneers have a life span, and they should be redone every 10 to 15 years. http://www.studiodentaire.com/en/treatme...
Reply:Yes, but you have to be very careful that, in correcting the open bite, you do not make the teeth look too long.

If it would look too long, then you'd need some type of ortho.
Reply:i had a an open bite and i had veneers put in...first of all the difference is amazing, the bite is still slightly open, however, it is unnoticeable to the untrained eye....if u go this route, please be careful in not letting your dentist convince u to get long veneers!! I dont know why, but for some reason they want to completely close the bite by putting in long horse teeth..thank god i stopped him in time....

If u want braces, you can try the clear ones, again they dont really treat severe cases.

Porcelain veneers. cost/procedure?

what is the average cost to get procelain veneers? and i heard they basically shave down your teeth till there is nothing left then glue on the veneers and how painful is it?

Porcelain veneers. cost/procedure?
I'm in the process of getting porecelain veneer facings done. They were $1000 for each tooth. I am having 8 done. That price includes everything! All x-rays, all moldings, all work up time, even a temporary 2 week set of the veneers to see how they sat in my mouth, the final teeth and everything. Its fantastic. My suggestion is that you go to a cosmetic dentist. If your going to pay that much, get it done right! lol It depends what your teeth look like to tell if you need your teeth grinded down. My problem was just that I have tiny teeth. They won't be shaving down and of my teeth.

Repairing damaged porcelain veneers?

I have porcelian veneers on the front upper teeth. This procedure has been done recently and I've noticed that two of the veneers have one horizonal fractures to each and one has a vertical fracture toward the side of the veneer. I have made a few comments to my dentist during my visits and she stated that it is only glue and she would have them completely buffed out when the bottom teeth are completed and that I will be pleased with the results. What problems later will I run into due to these fractures that I have noticed that she has sealed with something from a tube that required a light to be held to the teeth at the end of the procedure? I have no pain from these two teeth but I can still feel the fractured areas with my fingernail. The dentist states that the areas will be fine when everything is completed. I have already paid in full for all of the veneers to the bottom and top teeth. Am I going to have problems later with these two teeth?

It's hard to #1 predict the future and #2 diagnose you

over the phone or over the internet!

Seriously, have you considered getting a second opinion from

another dentist in your area?

Can 'permanent' porcelain veneers be replaced? Is it difficult to detach the veneer? How is it done?

I had 4 veneers placed. They look more yellow then my front 2 teeth. My front 2 teeth are naturally quite white. I have had a nightmare dentist and he had no artistic eye. He even chipped the permanent veneers. The dentist is now complete and I want to go to another dental clinic and have completely new veneers done. My question is how difficult it will be for the dentist to remove the veneers? Also will it cause trauma to my teeth?

Thanks.....

Please make sure that you speak to other patients of the dentist before doing any dental procedures. It is unfortunate when one is at the mercy of a dentist ......

its quite easy to remove and replace them.. the dentist will just cut a fissure in the middle and then break it off the tooth using something looking like a screwdriver. it wont break the tooth... the cement is less strong and will break before the tooth.

Porcelain veneers!!! info please?

how many veneers do you need to get a good result? plus does anyone know about the Nusmile paper thin veneers by the hospital group? are these better then the normal veneers? thanks xxx

Porcelain veneers!!! info please?
Hello, don't get mislead by a trade name with regard to veneers. Veneers are either made from porcelain or a type of plastic composite material. Both look good, but porcelain, at lest at this time, offers the most longevity. I do feel that the composite materials offer better color when being really thin is required. On the other hand porcelain offers better light reflection and refractory which results in a more vibrant life appearance. Cost wise there isn't a great deal of difference. Remembering of course that dental fees are not based on "a going rate" or "a fair percentage of profit"...they are based on what the doctor thinks he or she can get and that often has to do with ego and self importance as to what they think their special talent is worth. There is an old axiom among factions of the dental profession that says you can determine the fee structure of a dental office by counting the mini-skirted employees it has...i.e. It's a three, four or six mini-skirt office etc. I think you get the point.....I wish you well.

Reply:EXTREMELY expensive......in ireland its about 10,000 per veneer

Can you whiten porcelain veneers?

I have like yellow teeth that need whitening but i have a porcelain veneer. can i stilll whiten them without having one white tooth

Can you whiten porcelain veneers?
Unfortunately not... if the veneer is lighter than the rest of the teeth, you could always whiten the others to match the shade of the veneer...

Otherwise, an new one would have to be placed to match the newly whitened teeth... just keep in mind that whitening doesn't last forever and you'll be back in the same predicament sooner or later~
