I have cosmetic bonding on my teeth. Is there any way to whiten these without getting porcelain veneers?

I would like to whiten my teeth, but i know that the bonding will not whiten. What are my options? I really do not want to get porcelain veneers.

Veneers in the only way...

Unless you whiten your teeth and then have whiter bonding put on. But what's the point? Just get the veneers.
Reply:It may be possible to just re-do the bonding in a whiter shade after your teeth are whiter. Veneers is an option also, but bonding is definitely more conservative. With bonding, you can do veneers later, but once you have veneers you cannot go back. Talk to your dentist about which option is best for you. Good luck!
Reply:The color of the dental bonding material on your teeth can not be changed except by redoing the bonding in a lighter color or porcelain veneers, sorry!
Reply:I am a dentist. Bonding picks up staining over time and can sometimes be polished out, but usually not. Your options really are to replace the bonding, cheaper, but the same will happen again in a few years, or porcelain veneers, which do not stain, cost more but last much longer.
Reply:Simply VISTA any dentist and ask him for bleaching and he will Chang this bonding

Can I sue my dentist for not letting me know the cons of porcelain veneers? I feel cheated....?

I had porcelain veneers done to my 2 front teeth in Dec and my teeth are still sensitive after 8 months. I can't sleep at night because I feel that I made a big mistake by getting them done in the first place. My dentist never warned me that the sensitivity would last this long or that my tooth would have to be shaved down dramatically. I found all this out after I got it done. I've been doing a lot of research lately and found out that if you have more of your tooth shaved down there would be more trauma to the tooth....so more sensitivity. I feel that my dentist was not looking out for my best interest, because if he were then he would have warned me of the after math and what I would have to go through. I don't know what to do....

^ in response to the "certified dentist" above. so you are saying that the dentist was at no fault when he obviously KNEW that by shaving her teeth which were protuding would cause trauma and prolonged sensitivity? Whether or not this person has a case or not, i am not sure, but to put all the blame on the patient is absolutely ridiculous. Who said that she wanted her hand held like a 1st grader?? that is a very insensitive and rude response on your part.

to answer your question, Julie, I am not completely sure about the legal ramifications, but I hope you have a case because bastards like these have no right to practice.

Best of luck to you
Reply:For the sensitivity, try Sensodyne toothpaste. It is not an overnight fix, but if you use it nightly for a week, you should have a decrease in sensitivity. Make sure it's the last thing you do before bed so that you are not eating or drinking at least thirty minutes after using.
Reply:I wonder why you didn't do all that research BEFORE you had the veneers done. Seems to me, for such a huge investment in time and money, you'd want to inform yourself.

Yes, your dentist should have explained the details and possible consequences...but can you sue? Probably not. The primary person responsible for looking our for your best interests is YOU.
Reply:Sue...not likely, but your dentist has a responsibility for the sensitivity. You should NOT be having this with veneers. Call the office and tell them what's going on. You should not be charged for this.
Reply:Why do people always think that because they didn't do their homework, someone else needs to be blamed? And even sued? No, you can not sue your dentist because he didn't hold your hand and talk to you like you're a 1st grader. You're an adult, and it was obviously a silly assumption on his part, but he probably thought you knew what you were asking for.

I need help deciding whether to get invisalign or porcelain veneers?

Go for porcelain veneers for a quick fix and long term solution, particularly if you do not have unesthetic crookedness. If you do all the visible teeth nobody would know you have fake teeth, and would rather compliment on your pearly smile. Cost factor is in your domain anyway! Look for affordable dental care smile designing treatment.
Reply:Hey I hope u are doing well on your senior year. I see this a lot in my practice, and I have to tell you it depends on the urgency. In my opinion you are really young to have venners unless it is absolutely necessary, and your teeth are damaging your public appearance and work relations. Veneers also remove some tooth enamel which u will never get back, and even though they are going to last a very long time, you may need to replace them from time to time. Invisalign is a good option for minor movements and usually we get a really positive result. You will not be shaving any tooth and you will be aligning them properly. Now in some cases I cannot fix the problem with invisalign becasue of jaw discrepancies, but thats a dentist problem. I hope I gave you enough information to make an informative choice, hope you are happy with the end result.

I am 19 years old and interested in getting porcelain veneers. On average, how much do they cost?

I have heard porcelain veneers generally cost about $1,000 per tooth. Is this true? Is a (monthly) payment plan available? I am interested in getting my top 6 and lower 6 done (12 total). I have healthy teeth but are naturally yellow (inherited by my father). Also, I live in Indiana and am trying to find the best Dr. to do this. Any information/cost would be great! Thanks.

THE PRICEFOR A PORCELAIN VENEER IS ABOUT EQUALTO THATOF A CROWN.

FOR THECOST, I'D TRY BLEACHING FIRST. IF YOU ARE STILL NOT PLEASED, I'D LOOK FOR A DENTIST WHO DOES LUMINEERS.SEE,

Reply:Some dentists offer payment plans so you don't have to pay right away. Shop around and call different offices to see what their veneer prices are, some even have free smile analysis

LOL
Reply:i got one about 2 months ago, they last allot longer but i paid 700.00 for the one, i live in Oklahoma so it may even run more where you are, but you will defiantly like them better than the old version
Reply:your doctor wants your money of corse he's gonna say they would look nice. What he didn't tell you is porcelain veneers fall out all the time and then you will look like a hockey player.
Reply:if you have healthy teeth, then you should try whitening them - even naturally yellow teeth can be bleeched lighter. When they put on veneers, they will widdle you natural teeth away, and I know lots of ppl with veneers and they are not what they are cracked up to be. They are great if your teeth are really bad (crooked, missing, uneven) but in the end they look fake. Veneers are better than unhealthy teeth, but natural healthy teeth are always the best.
Reply:oh sweetie it's a pitty you don't live near the border with Mexico, because there u could get those for like a hundred bucks each tooth, they have really great dentists over there believe it or not. With all that money u r planning to spend you could even pay the trip. :-D
Reply:Much less than half the mount you can get it done with Dental Care India Tour with your holiday of choice for free. Get in touch with them immediately before it gets hot there.

Invisalign is really cool. I've had a friend had it done and his teeth look great. Plus, you couldn't really see anything unless you got really close to look.
Reply:Be very careful with whatever you choose, all the porcelin veneers I have seen look so fake. Get whatever you feel comfortable with. Good luck.

What is the average cost for porcelain veneers?

I am considering getting porcelain veneers to improve my smile./ What is the average cost for a procedure like this?

Please tell me all you know about porcelain veneers?

My tooth(the tooth next to my left front tooth) and it sticks out a little bit and I just want it pushed back so all me teeth are straight. So what would porcelain veneers do. and would my tooth be more noticable with the veneer or just that it sticks out a bit?

Please tell me all you know about porcelain veneers?
You'd have to have the tooth trimmed back so that it did not stick out so much and THEN you'd have to have a little bit more shaved off so the new veneer didn't just make it stick out again. Doing this much grinding might get too close to the nerve and then you'd need to have the nerve removed.

If you want to know all that I know about veneers, you'll have to call me sometime. Yahoo! puts a limit on the length of our answers.
