Question regarding porcelain veneers?

I am considering getting these and I was looking for pros, cons, cost and so on any input would really help.

Question regarding porcelain veneers?
I have some dental experience and have heard hte porcelain veneers are some of the best stuff out there right now.

I'm sure you know what they are so I won't go into that.

Advantages:

1) Porcelain veneers create a very realistic toothlike appearance.

2) Porcelain veneers resist staining.

Disadvantages:

1) Porcelain veneers have the potential to break or fall off.

2) Having porcelain veneers placed is not a reversable process.

Other notes:

Porcelain veneers cannot be placed on unhealthy teeth.

Placing a porcealin veneer will not provide a strengthening effect.

Porcelain veneers must be bounded to the tooth enamel.

Porcealin veneers are not a good option for those who clench and grind their teeth.

Cost:

Traditional Porcelain Veneers typically cost between $900 - $2,500. per tooth and require two or more visits one to two weeks apart. Veneers made of porcelain provide a greater longevity than plastic, typically ten years to fifteen years or more.

Composite Veneers cost significantly less, around $250 per tooth or more, but only last from five to seven years typically.

Lumineer Porcelain Veneers typically cost between $700. - $1,000. per tooth and also require just two visits. Lumineers are expected to last as long as traditional porcelain veneers.

Generally speaking, the price of tooth veneers and whitening increases with the number of in-office

A lot of people say 1000-2000 per piece. Good investment I would say but ask your dentist is the best bet!

Reply:Veneers are kind of like acrylic nails for teeth....same general idea. Your tooth will be reduced in size and the veneers are basically made to cover the front part of your tooth. They will be attached to your natural tooth. They last several years, but i have seen patients who end up with a full crown when the dentist isn't able to make the vaneer "stick" any more....
