Having kids wrecked my teeth. I have a space between them in two spots on the bottom where there was decalcification. I talked to my dentist about getting veneers and he said I would have to get them for 6 teeth on the bottom and 6 on the top in order for it to look right. I'm not sure if he's just trying to rip me off or what. I know it's about $1000 per tooth, in which case having that many done is out of the question. What do you think?
Anyone had porcelain veneers? What do you think of what my dentist said about it?
Over time, your natural teeth will stain and change color differently from veneers (veneers are glazed porcelain and will not change color or stain much over time). That is the reason why dentists recommend canine-to-canine if you want veneers, so all the teeth will have matching shades all the time.
You can compromise though.. Some people do have canines that are slightly different in shade than incisors without looking wierd, so maybe you can do just the incisors (4 on top and 4 on bottom). Optimum is definitely canine-to-canine though if you want that "Hollywood" look.
Hope this helps.
Reply:i agree that stain is a factor, also you want a good even normal bite for the upper teeth to rest of the lower to keep your mouth in a good healthy manor. also try finding a dentist who accepts care credit they offer 18 months interest free for anything over 300 hundred dollars. they do have a web site i believe it is carecredit.com this will help you to be able to afford such cosmetic advances with your mouth.
