After years of being bulimic, my teeth have taken quite a beating, I want to get them fixed up but cannot afford the price of veneers, any suggestions and any price estimations would be apreciated- Thanks!!!!!!
Is there a cheaper alternative to porcelain veneers?
Ask your dentist if bonding would be an option - it is less expensive.
(Alternately, if you are comfortable with the idea and are willing to go outside of the US, dental procedures can be much less expensive. For example my sister goes to a US trained dentist in Mexico and pays 50-75% less, but you'd need to do lots of research to pick a dentist right for you.)
Hope this helps - good luck!
Reply:Try asking your dentist about partials. My teeth are not strong at all and I had to have 11 + the 4 Wisdom teeth pulled and they put in a top and bottom partial. They look really good and are a lot cheaper than veneers. Look up Pearl Harbor Dental plan. They have a really good dental coverage that also takes care of your eyes also. Hope I helped.
Reply:No no no do not get your teeth pulled totally unacceptable. Partials can look nice but are a pain in the neck. If you can't afford veneers ask about bonding. This is a white filling (composite) that they shape and bond over your teeth. They are sometimes called chair-side or bonding veneers. At our office we charge about $320 dollars per filling or composite and around 1200 hundred per porc. lab created veneer. Quite a price difference. I would stay within the united states to do your dental work, I have seen what some of the work out of Mexico looks like, yes it is cheaper. But you will also have to have many of the things that they have fixed remade here. How does that come out cheaper for someone? They crowned a tooth, but left decay under it so now you have to have a root canal. I am not saying that their are not great dentists in Mexico, but if you are a US citizen then get your work done here.
Reply:I agree with one of the answers.. the bonding method.. way way cheaper, but all depends on how badly your teeth are.. bulimics really kill the tooth enamel on the lingual of the anteriors (the tongue side of the front teeth) - so I am not sure the veneers would be the best choice..
So, therefore, the bonding method would be by far cheaper, and if you have insurance, bonding is almost always covered, but veneers are considered aesthetic, therefore, not covered by insurance - and HUGELY expensive.
Get a great free consultation by a dentist - if they charge you for the initial consult, then don't go to them.
Partial dentures?? hmmm.. let that be your last resort, for why pull a tooth for no reason when you can fix it another way - you hope?
Reply:Dental Surgery is very very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges all types of surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as cosmetic dental surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your dental implant and surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.my cousin got it done and she just couldnt stop talking about how wonderful the whole thing went for her.
