I just got my braces off and my teeth are now very straight (after 3 years of braces!!). However, they're not quite perfect and I think would look better with veneers. I heard that they can be dangerous and have to be replaced periodically. Is this true? Also, how can I find a good cosmetic dentist?
Cosmetic Dentistry....what do you think about porcelain veneers?
I work in a dental lab, and personally I would not get veneers. Unless you teeth are really stained avoid them. You will have to get them replaced periodically which is the biggest negative. My advice is if you decide to get them make sure you go to a good dentist, who has a decent lab working for them. It's too easy to make junky veneers.
Reply:If you can afford it then get it but make sure they get filed down to the size you want or you will look like a horse. They last 10-20 years I thought so thats very affordable since they last so long.
I say get them if you want them, check the credentials and experience of the person putting them on, no one wants to be the first for a dentist or surgeon so ask lots of questions and get plenty of quotes.
