What are Veneers and Porcelain Veneers? Its a dental question.?
Veneers are restorations placed in the front and back teeth. It can be made up of plastic, porcelain or metal.

If you are referring to veneers that are placed in front teeth, then you might be referring to LAMINATES. You have two choices of material here - plastic and porcelain. Porcelain being more expensive.

This is usually accomplished in two appointments. On the first day, the dentist will do grinding. It usually requires minimal grinding of the front surface to provide room for the laminate. You will be called again for the next appointment after the laboratory finishes fabricating it. The laminate will then be tried in to check adaptation and shade. If both patient and dentist are satisfied, next step will be cementing it on your tooth.

Like any other restorations (except implants), it may not last a lifetime. But it is worth to have - esp when you want to cover you want improve your smile instantly.

They are not the only alternative for all esthetic abnormalities but are truly a remarkable restoration when they are the treatment of choice.
