HELP!! I chipped the porcelain veneer on my front tooth!!!!?

Although it's a very small chip, I almost had a heart attack when it happened. Everyone said it's too small to even notice. I had an appointment with a cosmetic dentist who proposed that they a) patch the chip with composite resin (bonding) or b) replace the entire veneer. A new veneer isn't in my budget and I had bonding 1st which I hated ( stained and thick). My original dentist lead me to believe that veneers don't chip or break. Was I mislead? Any repair suggestions?

Thanks

Chipping and breaking of veneers is common if you aren't careful. Since the chip is small, as you said, you probably just need some bonding. Replacing the veneer will be incredibly expensive.
Reply:Simply depends on the size of the chip..

Normally with SMALL chips I can bond and fill the area..but the bigger the missing part the weaker the repair!

Go to dentist and see what can be done

Reply:I would think that if your Veneer is less then about 5 years that it should be replaced at no charge. Veneers do chipped sometimes and do break. They are made of Porcelain, which is glass. If it is very small, bonding, if completed by a good dentist should be fine and should also not be detectable.
