Porcelain veneers or Bonded Veneers?

I'm getting veneers next month to get solid color teeth in the front instead of decalcification. Can someone tell me if porcelain or bonded veneers would be a better option? Thanks

Porcelain veneers or Bonded Veneers?
I had 4 bondings on my upper front teeth for many years. I was constantly having my boss (dentist) repair them. They stained and chipped alot. Porcelain veneers are so much more natural looking because they have a bit of translucency to them, not just a piece of composite on there. I've had my porcelains now for 10 years and not one has had to be replaced. The cost difference though is something to take into consideration. Huge difference in price with the porcelains being the more expensive of the two. Composite bondings have changed though since I had them in the early 1990's....the material is stronger and more natural looking....so maybe they'd work for you. If you have habits that stain your teeth (smoking, coffee, cola) I'd sure lean toward the porcelains though. Good luck....hope this helped.

*yes, i just went in and edited my typo....sheesh i end up with weird typos sometimes*
Reply:I used to work as an assistant for a cosmetic dentist. Porcelain is more expensive but more permanent. They will last for many years. With porcelain, they are actually made at a lab and cemented into place. Bonding is done right in the dental office. Bonding is temporary and may only last a year or less. I have seen bonding last for a few years but that has been the exception to the rule. The material for bonding is not as strong. Also bonding can stain (turn more yellow) but porcelain will not. If you don't have the money for porcelain, bonding is a great temporary option so you can save up some money. Hope this helps! Good luck!
Reply:my front teeth have bonded veneers, Porcelain are better, my dentist told me so.. and my one tooth keeps chipping nd i always have to go get it fixed. (I'm only 20) and once i have dental insurance again and have a good job I'm going to get Porcelain veneers. (my teeth were just spaced out and small. )
